30 candidates make the cut in Spain

The names of 30 hopefuls to represent Spain in Düsseldorf next year have been announced. They are (in alphabetical order):

Alazán, Alba Lucía, Auryn, Baltanás, Da Igual, Dani Alemán, David Sancho, Divas, Don Johnson's, Esmeralda Grao, Fernando Hidalgo, Guadiana, Las Miranda, Lorena Rosales, Lucía Pérez, Lussi Bon, María López, Melissa, Monica Guech, Paula, Pau Quero, Rocío Jiménez, Sebas, Sergi Albert, Sergio Bermejo, Sometimes, Sonia y Selena, Sunami, Valeria Antonella, We.

From these 30 candidates only 24 will take part in the live TV shows where the Spanish entry will be selected.

Among those names we can recognize some familiar ones that tried to represent Spain before, like Alazán in 2000 or Sonia y Selena in 2001. Both achieved great success with their entries at the time and are willing to try their lucks again.

Not a newcomer to the Spanish music scene, Esmeralda Grao who collaborated closely with Nacho Cano, of top band Mecano, in the late 90s. The now traditional participation of contestants from TV casting shows include Alba Lucía, Guadiana and María Lopez; María was a member of Santa Fe, the band that came 3rd in the 2009 Spanish national final.

In the coming hours you will be able to check on the Spanish broadcaster website, the videos of the artists' castings in which they had to perform songs from the history of the Eurovision Song Contest.

One of these songs is Algo Pequeñito, Spain's latest entry, that came 15th in the voice of Daniel Diges in this year's Final in Oslo.
