Italy 2025: 'Sanremo' lineup revealed
01 December 2024 at 14:00 CET2025 is going to be a big year in terms of Festival di Sanremo celebrations, as it'll be the 75th edition of Italy's prestigious song contest.
Not only that, but next May is also going to be another special anniversary for Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest. Basel 2025 will be the country's 50th participation at Eurovision since it took part at the inaugural Contest in 1956.
With all that in mind, it's fair to assume that tuning in to Sanremo 2025 is set to be an extra-special experience in February. For the latest edition of the song competition, Carlo Conti returns as Sanremo's artistic director, and he's already announced some slight alterations to the format, which were outlined on Eurovision.tv over the summer.
On Sunday 1 December, broadcaster Rai revealed the names of the 30 artists that will be taking part in Sanremo 75.

Amongst the lineup we have some names that have already graced the Eurovision stage for Italy; Francesca Michielin who represented her country in 2016, and Francesco Gabbani, who did so one year later in 2017. We've also got Achille Lauro included, who represented San Marino when the Eurovision Song Contest came to Turin in 2022.
And, we have an artist that has represented Italy twice at the Eurovision Song Contest, a very long time ago! Massimo Ranieri competed for his country back in 1971, and again in 1973. He returns to Sanremo in 2025.
The 5-night gala of Italian music will commence on Tuesday 11 February and end on Saturday 15 February. Well, let's be real - it'll be well into the early hours of Sunday 16 February. And we love it for that.
The winner of Sanremo 2024 was the song La noia, performed by Angelina Mango.
Angela accepted the invitation to represent Italy at the 68th Eurovision Song Contest, and in Malmö the song received 268 points for a 7th-place finish in the Grand Final.
It became Italy's 8th Top 10 finish over the past 10 Contests.
