07 October 2009 at 11:46 CEST

A total of 246 songs were sent in to SVT by the deadline, being last Sunday. Some of them did not comply with the rules, so it left 175 songs to go on vote on SVT's website.

The contest for one available web joker or wildcard will start next Wednesday, 14th of October and end on the 12th of November. The winner will be chosen via an SMS-vote.

The submitted 246 entries means the total amount of songs sent to SVT this year reached 2,860 making it one of the biggest national selections for Europe's favourite TV-show.

A total of 32 entries will participate in Melodifestivalen 2010, out of which four will be invited by SVT and one will be the web wildcard.

Sweden finished 21st in the Final of the Eurovision Song Contest this year in Moscow, Russia. The tough job was taken by Malena Ernman with her La Voix.
