The Azeri public broadcaster, Ictimai TV has today announced that 119 entries were received after the submission deadline passed yesterday.
Starting in the next few days, the next step will be for a jury to whittle these entries down into a suitable line-up for the national final, known as Milli seçim turu.
So far not much is known about the competition apart from that the rules will be identical to last year's selection where Ell/Nikki were chosen to represent Azerbaijan in Düsseldorf with the song Running Scared. They then went on to win the competition and bring it home to Baku.
So far Ictimai Television have cited a "transparent selection procedure" where both a professional jury and the viewing public will determine who should represent them on home turf in May.
The 2012 Eurovision Song Contest will take place on the 22nd, 24th and 26th of May in Baku, Azerbaijan.
