Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät

Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät (PKN) is a punk band that was formed in 2009. Pertti Kurikka, the band’s guitarist and front man, writes the lyrics with vocalist Kari Aalto and composes the music. The other two members of the band are bassist Sami Helle and drummer Toni Välitalo.

”The members of our band are four middle-aged, mentally handicapped men. The music is, of course, Finnish punk.” – Sami Helle, Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät

The band achieved cult status with its first demo Kallioon and has since released 7 EP’s, 2 singles and two compilations. In May 2015 the band will release a new compilation The Best of Greatest Hits which includes all the band’s recordings to date.

PKN is also popular outside Finland. The band has toured in several countries including the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Norway, Canada and the Netherlands.

PKN was the subject of an award-winning documentary, Kovasikajuttu (The Punk Syndrome) which premiered in the spring of 2012.

What else should you know about them?

What are the three most interesting aspects about your entry?

First, our fans want us to Vienna, secondly, we're going to win, thirdly, the audience likes us and that's the reason we're going to fly to Vienna. And someone will film us.

What are the three most impressive facts about you?

We have released a dozen of records. We have toured and played gigs around the world. There's a documentary movie made of us (the Punk Syndrome) and it has won prizes globally.

Do you have a (lucky) routine before you go on stage?

No. We fight before and after the gig.

Why is the Eurovision Song Contest important for you?

Because Lordi has won it. I wonder if Kikka and Irwin has won it too?

Lyrics of Aina Mun Pitää

Aina mun pitää siivota
Aina mun pitää tiskata
Aina mun pitää käydä lääkärissä
Aina mun pitää käydä töissä

En saa mennä koneelle
En katsoo telkkarii
En saa edes nähdä
mun kavereita

Aina mun pitää olla kotona
Aina mun pitää tehdä asioita
Aina mun pitää syödä kunnolla
Aina mun pitää juoda kunnolla

En saa syödä karkkia
En juoda limua
En saa edes juoda
alkoholia

Aina mun pitää levätä
Aina mun pitää nukkua
Aina mun pitää herätä
Aina mun pitää käydä suihkussa

I always have to clean up
I always have to wash up
I always have to see the doc
I always have to go to work

Can't go to my PC
Can't watch my TV
Can't even see my mates

I always have to stay at home
I always have to do things
I always have to eat properly
I always have to drink properly

So no candy for me
No soft drinks for me
Not even alcohol

I always have to rest
I always have to sleep
I always have to wake up
I always have to take a shower

Faut à chaque fois que j’me repose
Faut à chaque fois que j’dorme
Faut à chaque fois que j’me réveille
Faut à chaque fois que j’prenne une douche
