OG3NEOG3NE are three sisters who will represent The Netherlands in the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest with the song Lights and Shadows.
The Dutch vocal group OG3NE is made up of three sisters: Lisa (22) and twins Amy and Shelley (21). The name OG3NE represents their mother's blood type O and the genes that tie the three sisters together. In 2014 they were the world's first ever group to win The Voice and their great breakthrough in the Netherlands followed in 2016.
The very personal and harmonious Lights and Shadows is a musical tribute to their mother, written by their father Rick, to inspire those whose families are disrupted by illness. Their mother has been seriously ill for several years. The impact on their close, musical family is huge. They support each other and take care of each other, but still there is also a lot of grief.
OG3NE's success creates valuable moments of happiness. "We will do everything in our power to make our country proud. We want to see a proud smile on our mother's face too. This is our way to say thank you for everything she has given us and for what she means to us".

About the song writer & composers
Lights And Shadows was written by Rick Vol, the father of the three sisters, and the composer and lyricist, together with Shelley's boyfriend, guitarist Rory de Kievit. Rick: "We have tried to reflect the uncertain and unstable life that a patient and their family lead and to counter it with positivity and hope! Most of all, we want the song to empower people!"
After he finished a pre-music academy programme, Rick married Isolde with whom he built a career in the graphic industry. They have three daughters: Lisa, Amy and Shelley. For years, Rick successfully ran a graphics business. In 2010, out of love for music, Rick and Isolde set up their own entertainment show. Their daughters are musical too. In 2007, they won the Dutch national selection for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Years of success followed for the girls. In 2014, Rick's daughters, as OG3NE, won The Voice of Holland with the song Magic written by Rick. He is also OG3NE's musical director.
Rory de Kievit was born in Rotterdam in 1989 and has played music all his life. At the age of five, he started to play the drums. As the neighbours were not too happy about that, he switched to guitar. While taking training programmes at secondary school and and a the Codarts Music Academy, Rory grew to be one of the most-wanted session guitarists in the Netherlands. He has played with many great artists like Mr. Probz.
In addition to playing the guitar, he developed the ambition to compose and produce music. In 2014, he became Music Producer for the TV programme The X-Factor. In 2016, Rory, together with lyricist Rick Vol, wrote three tracks on OG3NE's successful album We Got This. That partnership led to a follow-up, and together they wrote the track Lights and Shadows, OG3NE's song for the Eurovision Song Contest.
