No Angels
Germany will be represented by the group No Angels. "We welcome new challenges time and again - this is what defines us as a band and as girlfriends, we don't just try and do things the easy way, but we set ourselves goals that give us the possibility to develop as women and as artists," the group says.Their success story to date remains unique in the world of music and impressively illustrates that no one should underestimate girl power... No Angels took off in 2001 when the band won the first Popstars contest. Their debut single Daylight In Your Eyes and their album Elle'ments went straight to #1 of the Media Control Charts - and then they really kicked off with sold-out tours, countless music and media awards (Echo, Bambi) and gold as well as platinum awards. The albums Now... Us and Pure (top position #1) as well as the swing album When The Angels Swing silenced all critics because, by that time, the No Angels had long shaken off with a smile the clichés and prejudices associated with being a manufactured band. These ladies have rocked an entire nation - everyone simply succumbed to their seductive and energized pop sound and catchy tunes... Following a three-year break, No Angels are back with their brand new album Destiny and have conquered the charts and the hearts of fans with their single Goodbye To Yesterday. This caused a perfect sensation: both single and album went straight to number 4 of the charts - a perfect comeback for the ladies! Hit singles such as Maybe and Amaze Me as well as Teardrops brought out the strength and new quality of performance of the No Angels. And the fans are thrilled!
A childhood dream
No Angels are back... and ready to write the next chapter of their success story! On 6 March, the No Angels are facing their next challenge and they are full of passion and enthusiasm about it: With their participation in the German preliminary round of the Grand Prix Eurovision Song Contest a childhood dream of the angels has come true. "Millions of people follow this event, every year, so we really enjoy taking part in the preliminary round," Sandy, Nadja, Lucy and Jessica said. The No Angels will present their new song Disappear live and they have a very special reason for choosing the track A Song. According to the band, the sound of A Song "perfectly captures the mood of spring and it's bound to touch a lot of people - not only in Germany." On their fantastic comeback, in 2007, the No Angels comment: "We are proud to be together again. Each one of us is proud of being part of No Angels - this feeling welds us together more than ever before," Lucy describes the band's mood and Nadja adds; "We have always known that we would reunite and make a fresh start as a band. Somehow, it is a new beginning. We have gone through a phase of development during the three-year break, experimenting a lot and we are now returning to the stage with this wealth of knowledge and experience taking the next step together again, as a family."
More easy-going
The No Angels have worked at a breathtaking speed since their sensational debut and this has shaped the four workaholics and passionate performers and laid the foundation for a new chapter "We have always been prepared to give everything for the band and have set very high personal standards where songs and shows are concerned. Of course, we had our disagreements but they were also important! Each one of us has tried to bring herself and her individual style into the band. Now we have become calmer and more easy-going," Sandy says and Jessica adds; "Each one of us used the opportunity of experimenting with solo projects and petting her own ego. Since we no longer have to prove what we can do as individuals, we can now show what we can do here and now as a group, as the No Angels team."
We are a family!
These four ladies know exactly what they want and they say it outright; "The decision to reunite was a very easy one to take. Of course, the No Angels are having a comeback!' But we didn't want to leave anything to chance. We wanted everything to be exactly the way we wanted. We go back such a long time as friends, we know each other inside out and now we can combine the creative, artistic and business sides of our careers in the best possible way," Nadja describes their approach to the No Angels reunion. On their album Destiny, which has been released on 14 March in a Reloaded Deluxe Edition the four women comment; "We have perceived the work for this album in a completely different way. There was a certain feeling of ease in the air, because we have so much fun together. This may sound banal but the most important thing for us is to have fun, to enjoy singing and having fun creating something that no one can take away from us. We are a family!"
