The project MELOVIN started in Odesa in 2012. The name comes from a combination of the holiday Halloween and the last name of the British fashion designer Alexander McQueen.

MELOVIN, who is currently 21 years old, made a number of attempts of making it into different popular talent shows such as Ukraine’s Got Talent and The X Factor. In 2015, the artist finally succeeded. He became a participant of the sixth season of The X Factor in Ukraine and eventually went on to win the show three years ago.

MELOVIN also participated twice in the national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. In 2017 he finished third and this year he won with his song Under The Ladder. MELOVIN not only performed his own song but also was the stage director for his act. The artist mentions that he owes his victory in the national selection, among other things, to the active support of his fans.

MELOVIN's biggest passions are music, perfumery and chemistry. He announced to release a limited edition of his first fragrance during the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest Lisbon. MELOVIN calls for bravery, not to bow for difficulties, to make dreams come true, to love life and to enjoy it with its unpredictable twists and circumstances. 

MELOVIN knows very well that there are no victories without failures. His creative journey has been just like that, pursuing his dream step by step with no fear of failure. This is what his song Under The Ladder is all about. The artist encourages people never to stop because of failures, as they are temporary, and to fight for your dreams against all the odds.

The stage act for Under The Ladder has been co-directed by Konstantin Tomilchenko, who also choreographed Jamala's winning performance of 1944 at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest.

Especially for the 2018 contest, MELOVIN introduced the hashtag #BraveLoveFreedom, which is also one of his tattoos.
