Laura Tesoro

Laura Tesoro (19) is a multi-talented performer from Belgium: singer, dancer, actress, presenter... When you listen to the pop, funk and soul vibes of her Eurovision Song Contest entry, What's The Pressure, you won't be surprised that some of her favourite artists are Bruno Mars or Michael Jackson. The song is written by famous Belgian singer-songwriter Selah Sue (Sanne Putseys) and produced by the Brit Peter Gordeno, who plays keyboards with Depeche Mode.

19-year-old Laura Tesoro from Antwerp is a multi-talented performer: she sings, dances, acts and presents. This Belgian with Italian roots inherited the showbiz gene from her parents, who were both musical artists. She got her first television role when she was 8 and by the time she was 11 she was starring in the musical Annie.

Energetic Laura participated successfully in song contests such as Ketnetpop, The Voice and most recently Eurosong, the Belgian national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. She performs with her own live band and has already released several of her own songs. She loves up-tempo pop, with a dash of funk and soul. Laura’s Eurovision number What's The Pressure is exactly the sort of song she loves to listen to and sing.

Things to know about Laura Tesoro

What are the three most interesting aspects about your entry?

  • What’s The Pressure has an old-school Motown/funk feel, but in a modern, urban act. It's catchy and feel good, thanks to its strong bassline and brass section.
  • The act is a combination of singing and dancing, both from me and from my backing singers, so that makes for an energetic performance.
  • The song has a very strong message. It's about how the world around you is so crazy, and about how you feel under so much pressure, but that in the end you just have to stop worrying about stuff and just do what makes you happy.

What are the three most impressive facts about you?

  • They tell me I’ve got a positive, youthful vibe.
  • I love to dance and sing and put on a good show on stage.
  • I like to sing energetic, cheerful songs that make people feel good.

Do you have a (lucky) routine before you go on stage

I’ve got a special rock I always carry with me for good luck. I don’t take it on stage… but I do keep it in my dressing room.

Why is the Eurovision Song Contest important for you?

I’m fascinated by the other artists and how they have their own way to prepare for the Contest and to represent their country.

Lyrics of What's The Pressure

Don't ask me why the sun is shining
Long after the day is done
The evening falls, the bright lights
Bring out the best in me

I see massive walls weighing down the people all around
They don’t seem to mind at all
And I will try to stand my ground
Won’t be bound
Brings out the best in me

What’s the pressure?
You will grow
You will know in the end
This is fiction
It's in your mind
Live your life instead

Don't ask me why the sun is shining
Brings me all the joy and hope in live
Even though these rules they'
Try’na take over me
Try’na take over me

I see massive walls weighing down the people all around
They don’t seem to mind at all
I will try to stand my ground
Won’t be bound
Bring out the best in me

What’s the pressure?
You will grow
You will know in the end
This is fiction
It's in your mind
Live your life instead

What’s the pressure?
This is fiction
It's in your mind
So live your life the best

You gotta do what you want to do
You gotta be who you want to be
So tell me what’s the pre – es- sure

What’s the pressure?
This is fiction
It's in your mind
So live your life instead

What’s the pressure?
You will grow
You will know in the end
This is fiction
It's in your mind
So live your life the best
