Laura Rizzotto is a 23 year old singer, songwriter and pianist born in Brazil, to a Latvian father and a Brazilian mother of Portuguese descent. She wrote her first tune at the age of eleven and has published more than 100 original songs since then.
At the age of fifteen, Laura started performing in the Rio de Janeiro's music scene. Her first record deal came up one year later, after a record company executive saw her performing live. Her debut studio album, Made in Rio, was released in 2011. Shortly after, Laura received a scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music and moved to Boston, United States.
Laura performs in various music venues and festivals in the United States and has recorded her second studio album Reason To Stay, in Los Angeles, in 2014. This album served as a driving force to promote environmental education and a greater public awareness regarding the urgent need of conservation and restoration of Brazilian national tree, also known as The Music Tree, which is listed as an endangered species and often cut down to make musical instruments.
In 2015, Laura moved to New York City to pursue a Masters degree in Music and Music Education, at Columbia University, graduating in May 2017. In New York, Laura wrote Miracle, as a tribute to road traffic victims. The song was featured on the second Global Conference on Road Safety, sponsored by the United Nations.
The song Funny Girl won the Latvian national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon. The song, which Laura wrote and composed, will be included on Laura’s upcoming EP Amber, to be released in 2018, to celebrate her Latvian heritage.
