Isis Gee
It's the 13th time that Poland participates in the Eurovision Song Contest and also this year, Polish TV organised an entertaining national final with lots of different musical styles. With no clear favourite beforehand, it was Isis Gee singing For Life that managed to get the highest votes from the combined mix of televoting and jury voting.Performer, composer and lyricist Isis started singing and performing at the age of five. She began taking private voice lessons and performing classical, pop, R&B, jazz, broadway and country music as a young girl. This led to her being featured singing with various bands, choirs and singing groups with which she traveled and performed extensively. Live Theatre was also a huge passion for Isis, and she spent her childhood years participating in various live musicals. By the time she was 12 years old, she was earning money as a professional singer. Later in her adolescence, Isis won numerous singing competitions including winning an international talent competition in Los Angeles, California when she was 17 years old. The same year, she won a beauty and scholarship pageant (preliminary to the Miss America pageant).
Isis was no stranger to the stage and throughout the years was also singing in various large arenas for crowds of 65,000 people. At the age of 19, she was featured on two jazz albums, was opening for legendary Toni Bennett, began touring throughout Asia as the featured vocalist with a jazz trio, as well as finding herself performing with McCoy Tyner (John Coltrane, Stanley Clarke, Bill Evans). After moving to Los Angeles, Isis worked with famous song writers such as Steve Dorff who has written, arranged and produced hit songs for artists like Barbara Streisand, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston and countless others. In 2004 Isis moved from the United States to live in Poland with her husband.
Isis was always intrigued with Poland, as she grew up knowing that her father's mother was Polish and that she had Polish roots. Isis feels incredibly grateful to represent the beautiful country and she says: "This truly changed her life on every level." In 2007, she recorded her debut album entitled Hidden Treasure. The music industry was quickly captivated by her abilities both creatively and technically. She is said to be one of the very first women in the business to fully compose, arrange, program, engineer and produce all music herself.
In the past year, Isis has worked extensively with some of the worlds key players in the music business; KK (Sting, Bjork, Dido, Britney Spears, etc.), Simon Gogerly who is the 2006 Grammy Award winning mixer and who worked with e.g. U2, Elton John, Tina Turner and Gwen Stefani and finally Tim Young from the Metropolis Studios (Madonna, David Bowie Massive Attack, Cold Play). Isis Gee's musical style is classified as Elegant Pop. The music industry top representatives often describe Isis as a mix of Celine Dion and Lara Fabian, meeting with an edgy Sade. She aspires to touch people's hearts and minds through her music, and to truly make a positive difference in our world and communities. In 2007 Isis was invited to work with the famous German DJ Schiller (Christopher von Deylen) who has sold over a million albums. Schiller and Isis co-wrote the song Fate that Isis sings on Schiller’s new album.
