Boggie
Even before Boggie won the Hungarian national selection A Dal 2015 with her peace anthem Wars For Nothing, she was already an internationally well-known artist.Boggie has released her first solo album in 2013, but it was not until January 2014 that she gained worldwide recognition. The music video of her song Nouveau Parfum has been viewed by more than 30 million people all around the world and her debut album skyrocketed to the 3rd place of the Billboard jazz list and to the 17th place of the Billboard world music list. Boggie also received worldwide media attention from the biggest TV channels and news sites. She released her second album titled All is one is all in 2014.
Boggie is also a proficient live performer: she has played at the Jazz Sur Seine festival in Paris and at several shows in New York, Frankfurt, Munich, the Netherlands and extensively toured Hungary with her live band. She is not only a talented singer, but also writes her own lyrics and songs.
2015 started as a lucky year for Boggie: she was nominated as Glamour Woman of the Year, her videoclip for her single Nouveau Parfum got among the 17 nominees for the Highlights of Hungary awards and she won the Hungarian national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest with her song Wars For Nothing.
Things you should know about Boggie
Most interesting aspects about your entry?
My song is against the institution of wars. It's a hymnal ballad which was composed by three composers: Áron Sebestyén, Sára Helene Bori and me. We have different personal stories behind it. Personally I am easily touched by any human suffering and nowadays we have more and more of that near and far. The three of us would like to raise people’s attention towards this issue.
Most impressive facts about you?
My music is a mixture of all the styles I learnt: pop, jazz, French chanson, country, folk and classical. It is something that I call high-quality pop. I think it is really important to start to compose your own songs because it defines your character and it helps you to find your own voice. There will come a time when you will see that it was worth it. My full name is Boglárka which has no equivalent in any other language. That's why I decided to use my nickname as an artist name: BOGGIE.
Do you have a (lucky) routine before you go on stage?
Every time before I go on stage I try to clear my mind. I focus on the message and I forget everything. I am really in the song.
Why is the Eurovision Song Contest important for you?
Besides feeling lucky and blessed to represent Hungary, I also truly believe that through music we can make the world a better place.
