Argo
The Greek band Argo comprises Vladimiros Sofianides, Christina Lachana, Konstantinos Topouzis, Alekos Papadopoulos, Maria Elbrus and Elias KesidesThey were selected internally by public broadcaster ERT to represent Greece with the song Utopian Land.
Argo is a dynamic combination, as professional music artists with prestigious music studies and impressive resumes join with passionate, self–taught performers who draw on personal experiences in order to create powerful music.
The band is mainly inspired by hip hop sounds; at the same time, their music resonates with folklore (Pontian) tunes and traditional instruments such as the lyre, all elements of ancestral legacy for most of the band’s members.

What are the three most interesting aspects about your entry?
- We can only say that our songs message is very positive.
- It’s about people coming together for a better world.
- The use of traditional instrumentals, like the pontian lyre and the tabor, which we expect to make a difference to the rhythm.
What are the most impressive facts about Argo?
Behind the band image there is a well established friendship. It’s important for us to work collectively and operating as a core in order to create the kind of music that comes out of our hearts.
Do you have a (lucky) routine before going on stage?
Our loving routine is the communication with our families before every big event that is important for us. That really powers up our “ batteries”.
Why is the Eurovision Song Contest important to you?
We feel honored that our song was chosen to represent Greece in the 61st Eurovision Song Contest. This is the most important thing, and we will do our best to represent our country in the best possible way. It is also a unique opportunity for us to present our work in the biggest audience in Europe and we see it as a great challenge.
