Julia Samoylova is a singer and songwriter, born in 1989 in Ukhta, Russia. Julia, who has used a wheelchair since childhood, was a finalist in The X Factor in Russia. Julia performed during the opening ceremony of the Winter Paralympics in Sochi in 2014. She has also won an award called Alla’s Golden Star, which was named after Russia's 1997 Eurovision participant Alla Pugachova.
Julia was originally chosen to represent Russia in the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest with the song Flame Is Burning. Broadcaster Channel One Russia are honouring the commitment made to Julia last year and she is set to appear in the 2018 competition in Lisbon. Julia's song for Eurovision 2018, I Won't Break, was written by Netta Nimrodi, Leonid Gutkin and Arie Burshtein.
