About This Competition

The Douze Points Eurovision Song Contest newslettervcompetition (the "Competition") is promoted by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) (who we’ll refer to as ‘us’, ‘we’ and ‘our’ in these terms and conditions).

It is open to anyone aged 18 and over (except for our employees and their immediate family, people who act on our behalf, employees of the European Broadcasting Union and of the Participating Broadcasters, and anyone else connected to this Competition through their work). We reserve the right to ask for proof of name, age and address of all winners for the purposes of delivering the prizes. By entering this Competition, you (who we’ll refer to as “you” or “entrant” hereafter) agree to be unconditionally bound by these terms and conditions, and you confirm that you are eligible to enter and to claim the prize you may win.

If you do not agree with these terms and conditions, please do not enter the Competition.

The Competition opens on Thursday 23rd September 2021 at 08:00 CEST and closes on Monday 27th September 2021 at 12:00 CEST (the “Submission Period”). We can suspend, end or cancel the Competition at any time at our sole discretion without liability.

An anagram is provided in the Douze Points newsletter. Once solved it will reveal the name of a Eurovision Song Contest participant. Send us the mystery participant’s name in the subject line of an email sent to [email protected] before the end of the Submission Period to be in with a chance of winning. Correct answers will be entered into a prize draw!

Entering the Competition

No purchase is necessary to enter in this Competition and it will not enhance your chances of winning. To enter the Competition, simply follow the steps below.

  1. Solve the anagram provided in the first edition of Douze Points (newsletter)

  2. Send us the answer to the anagram (a Eurovision Song Contest participant) via email to: [email protected] before the end of the Submission Period.

  3. In the body of the email include in Your Name, Your Age, Your Country, Your Email Address on which you can be contacted.

For example, if the winning answer is 'CONCHITA WURST', mention the following in your email:

Subject: CONCHITA WURST

Body: John Doe, 27, United Kingdom, [email protected]

  1. If your email features the correct answer (eligible entries), you will be entered into a prize draw for some amazing Eurovision Song Contest goodies.

We will disqualify anyone we suspect of any kind of cheating, deception, or fraud, even if they enter via a third party. This includes any kind of manipulation whatsoever. If we do not enforce this, it does not mean we have given up the right to do so. The prize draw is subject to all applicable laws and regulations. It shall be deemed void where prohibited.


What You Are Agreeing to If You Enter

By entering this Competition, you agree to have read, understood and accepted these Terms and Conditions.


The Prize

The Competition prize draw consists of the following prizes:

3x Open Up water bottles


Odds of winning will depend on the number of eligible entries received. All eligible entries received before the end of the Submission Period will be entered into the draw and be gathered into a database. The winners will be chosen through a random selection.

There shall be one prize per entrant. The prize is not negotiable and cannot be sold. There is no cash alternative for the prize save that we reserve the right to substitute the prize with another prize of equal or greater value. The receipt by the winners of the prize shall be conditioned by compliance with all applicable laws.

The Winners

There will be 3 winners chosen randomly who will be notified by Friday 1 October 2021 and no correspondence will be entered into in relation to the outcome of the draw. The result of the draw is final and binding in all matters and no claim can be made.

Acceptance and Collection of the Prize

Each Winner must, within 48 hours of being notified, confirm to us by email that he/she/they wishes to accept the prize and indicate to us the address where the prize is to be sent.

If we cannot get hold of a winner, or if a winner does not confirm that he/she/they accepts the prize within 48 hours of receiving an email, we will give the prize to the next eligible entrant selected at random.

Delivery is included in the prize.


How We Will Use Your Information

  • Your personal data including your name and contact details (“Personal Data”) which you have provided to us as part of you entering in this Competition will be recorded, stored or otherwise processed by us for purposes relating to the administration and conduct of the Competition and for sending the prizes to the winners and our other legitimate business purpose (“Purpose”).

  • In accordance with data protection legislation, we collect personal data you have used to enter the Competition and to contact and notify the winners only. No data will be passed on or sold to third parties save for enabling us to run the Competition and to remit the Prizes to the Winners.

  • You will only be giving your personal information to us (and, if necessary, to people working on our behalf). Please be informed that your Personal Data may be disclosed to our affiliates, the EBU or relevant service providers for the Purpose and as permitted by applicable data privacy laws.

  • We might process your personal information outside of the EU. We will keep your personal data only as necessary for permitting the Winners to benefit from the Prizes.

  • You may request for access to or correction of the Personal Data or limit the processing of the Personal Data at any time hereafter by submitting such request to us. You may do so by sending a signed request form with a copy of your ID card, passport or other proof of identity to [email protected]

  • Please note that it will be necessary for you to provide your name and your address if you are a winner, without which we will not be able to process the same for the sending the prizes to the winner.

Legal Disclaimers

You agree to assume all risk involved by entering in this Competition. By entering the Competition, you agree to indemnify, release and hold harmless Highlight Event AG, the EBU and the ESC Broadcasters, affiliates and subsidiary companies, from any liability, damages, losses or injury resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from your entry in the Competition and the acceptance, use or misuse of any prize that may be won. As a condition for entering, you hereby waive all rights to claim punitive, incidental, or consequential damages, including reasonable attorneys' fees, and you further waive all rights to have damages multiplied or increased.

We reserve the right, in our sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend this Competition at any time and at our discretion. In particular but not limited to, we may cancel terminate, modify or suspend this Competition, should any virus, bug, non-authorized human intervention, fraud, or other cause beyond the our control corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, or proper conduct of the Competition. In such case, we may select the Winners from all eligible entries received prior to and/or after (if appropriate) the action taken by us.

We reserve the right to modify these Terms and Conditions and the Prizes awarded at any time without prior notice. We also reserve the right to cancel this Competition at our sole discretion without any liability to the entrants. Our decision is final with respect to any aspect of the Competition, including without limitation, modifications to these Terms and Conditions, cancellation of the Competition, the method of selection as well as the determination of the Winner(s).

We do not make any warranties, express or implied, as to the condition, fitness or merchantability of the prizes. We disclaim all liability for damage pursuant to participation in this Competition.

You agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. Entrants (including Winners) shall have no recourse against us in case this Competition is cancelled, or the prize is not received. No refund or compensation will be made in the event of the cancellation or in case the prize is not received.
