Türkiye made its Eurovision Song Contest debut in 1975, represented by pop star Semiha Yankı and her song 'Seninle Bir Dakika' (‘A Minute With You’).

Sertab Erener would deliver their first (and so far only) win in 2003 with the dancefloor filler Everyway That I Can, a song that went on to enjoy huge commercial success across Europe.

When Istanbul hosted the Contest the following year, a number of now familiar show elements were introduced, including the first ever Semi-Final and an iteration of the Contest’s now iconic heart logo.

Rock band maNga came close to producing a second Turkish victory in 2010, finishing in second place with their anthemic entry We Could Be The Same.
