Switzerland won the very first Eurovision Song Contest in 1956.

Lys Assia, the first ever winner of the Eurovision Song Contest, went on to represent Switzerland again in both 1957 and 1958. The country won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1988 with Celine Dion, who went on to become one of the biggest selling female artists in the world.
