Belgrade would stage San Marino’s debut entry when they joined the Eurovision Song Contest in 2008.

Their first attempt at glory came courtesy of alt-rock group Miodi and their song Complice (‘Accomplice’) - it finished last in its Semi-Final, picking up two points from fellow minnows Andorra.

The Samarinese wouldn’t qualify for a Grand Final until 2014 when Valentina Monetta (on her third consecutive participation) took ballad Maybe to the Saturday evening spectacular where it placed 24th in a field of 26.

Despite superstar rapper Flo Rida appearing as a guest performer on the country’s 2021 entry (Senhit’s Adrenalina), it was Turkish singer-songwriter Serhat who delivered the Most Serene Republic’s best ever result when his track Say Na Na Na finished 19th in 2019.
