Their first participation remains their most successful result, when singer Friderika took her ballad Kinek Mondjam El Vétkeimet? (‘To Whom Shall I Tell My Sins?’) to fourth place.
In 2007, despite placing 9th in the Grand Final, Magdi Rúzsa became the first Hungarian act to win a Marcel Bezençon Award as voted for by fellow participating composers for her song Unsubstantial Blues.
Hungary last participated in 2019 when Joci Pápai represented his country for a second time with the track Az Én Apám (‘My Father’).
