Albania participated in the Eurovision Song Contest for the first time in 2004. The Albanian broadcaster, Radio Televizioni Shqiptar (RTSH), has been the organizer of the Albanian Eurovision Song Contest entry since the country's debut. Albania has a population of 2.8 million and the capital city is Tirana.
In 2004, Albania's first entry at Eurovision Song Contest, performed by Anjeza Shahini, finished 7th in the Grand Final. This remained the country's best result in the contest until 2012 when Rona Nishliu placed 5th.
The Albanian national broadcaster Radio Televizioni Shqiptar (RTSH) uses the long-standing Albanian song contest Festivali i Këngës to select the Albanian Eurovision Song Contest entry.
