Together with his own dream team, Sergey has revealed 'Scream' as Russia's entry for the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest. The track is produced by Philip Kirkorov, composed by Dimitris Kontopoulos, written by Sharon Vaughn and accompanied by the Moscow Symphony Orchestra.

This will be the second time Sergey performs a Dimitris Kontopoulos track after he composed You Are The Only One in 2016. Sharon Vaughn wrote the lyrics for Scream and is a songwriter of global fame. She has worked with some of the world's greatest country music stars including Reba McEntire, Willie Nelson, Kenny Rogers, Trisha Yearwood, Randy Travis and Patty Loveless. More recently, she has worked with several Swedish stars including September, Alcazar and Eurovision winners Måns Zelmerlöw and Charlotte Perrelli and wrote Melodifestivalen songs for Shirley Clamp, Ellen Benediktson and 2005 Eurovision Song Contest winner Helena Paparizou. She also wrote Jedward's 2012 Eurovision entry Waterline for Ireland.

Philip Kirkorov represented Russia in 1995 and has been involved with numerous successful Eurovision entries since then including Belarus' Work Your Magic in 2007 (6th place), Ukraine's Shady Lady in 2008 (2nd place) and Sergey's 2016 entry You Are The Only One (3rd place).

About Sergey Lazarev

Sergey is no stranger to television competitions or the Eurovision Song Contest as he returns for a second attempt to capture the Eurovision crown. He came close in 2016 when he topped the public vote and finished third overall with You Are The Only One. He’s also finished second in Russia’s Dancing On Ice in 2006 and won Circus Of The Stars in 2008. Sergey began his music career as a member of  a band called Smash, before going solo in 2005 and releasing a string of certified gold and platinum albums. In 2015 Sergey Lazarev won all possible Russian music awards, including the First Russian National Music Award as the Best Singer of the Year. In 2016 he toured Russia after his Eurovision adventure, selling out a 55-city tour.

Russia in Eurovision

Russia debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994 and despite only winning once, they have one of the best records in the competition. In 21 attempts, Russia has finished in the top half of the Grand Final scoreboard 17 times and reached the top three an incredible eight times including its last appearance in the final when this year’s entrant Sergey Lazarev finished third, topping the international televote with You Are The Only One. Dima Bilan took second place in 2006 with Never Let You Go before returning in 2008 to deliver Russia’s first ever Eurovision victory with Believe in 2008. Russia also managed second place in 2000 with Alsou, 2012 with Buranovskiye Babushki (affectionately known as six Russian Grannies) and their dance song Party For Everybody and again in 2015 with Polina Gagarina’s A Million Voices. Last year however, Russia’s proud 100% success record at qualifying from the Semi-Finals at the Eurovision Song Contest broke when Julia Samoylova finished 15th and missed out on the Grand Final with I Won’t Break
